Need safer cycle lanes

I cycle everywhere but unfortunately Dublin City Council are narrowing the roadways and widening the footpaths especially in O Connell St. Would it not have made more sense to leave the footpaths as they were and install a cycle lane especially for cyclist.

The Boardwalks along the Liffey only encourage drunks and misfits - why not make it a cycle lane for Cyclists. We need Safer Cycle Lanes in the City. Until we get safer cycle lanes people will not be encouraged to cycle into the City.
