Don't leave equipment on standby
People today have an increasing number of electronic devices in their houses and it has been estimated that an average household now wastes between 5% and 10% of its annual electricity bill on appliances left on standby when not in use. Equipment such as televisions, videos, DVD's, mobile phone chargers, stereos and gaming and computing equipment continue to use electricity even when not in use. Switch these off at the socket rather than leaving them on standby and you will save approximately 190kg CO2 each year and €50 per annum on your electricity bill.
