Save Energy & Play your Part Today

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

Having 'stuff' takes up energy, be it in its production, its usage and in its disposal. At every stage this can be producing unnecessary carbon emissions. By reducing the amount we consume, reusing things that otherwise might be thrown away and increasing our recycling we can reduce the energy required for 'stuff' and become more sustainable. When ever some thing is made 'embedded carbon' from the energy used in its production, transport, packaging and its disposal adds up to encompass a whole carbon life-cycle cost and associated carbon emissions. It is difficult to equate exactly what this unseen cost is, but by reusing and recycling you will reduce the CO2 emissions associated with this area of your footprint. On average the annual emissions associated per person with sending materials such as paper/card, plastics, textiles, glass and metals to landfill sites is approximately 70 kg CO2. By reusing and recycling, and subsequently reducing this landfill impact by 25% you will save approximately 20 kg CO2 a year.
