Eat less meat

The production of meat is energy and emissions intensive. It is estimated that for every kilogramme of beef produced 36.4kg of CO2 equivalent (i.e. accounting for all ghg's) is produced. This comes not only from the associated production of required fertilisers and feed, but also from the biological workings of the cows themselves. This is equivalent to driving an average car 180 miles. On average we consume 80 kg of meat per person per year, if we were to remove meat from our diet for just one day a week this would reduce our annual CO2 emissions associated with eating meat by approximately 400 kg.
