Win tickets to Des Bishop
12 Jan 2010
Comedian Des Bishop has been working with ESB Customer Supply on www.desbishopunplugged.ie, showing how easy it is to save money by becoming more energy efficient. As part of that, Des will be doing an exclusive gig in the Button Factory in Dublin on Wednesday the 3rd February
The gig is so exclusive that you can’t buy tickets for it, you have to win them at www.desbishopunplugged.ie and it will be the only solo gig Des does in Ireland until at least autumn 2010. Click here for details on how to enter this competition.
Never one to shy away from a subject, Des regularly grapples with social issues - such as poverty and testicular cancer. He is now turning his attention to the issue of energy efficiency.
“I think like most people I have become desensitised to the constant flashes of information about what we need to do to get our energy usage down,” he says. “I always think I must do something but I really have not done anything - I have no energy efficient bulbs in my house, I use my tumble dryer no matter what and, of course, I still forget to turn off the immersion! Like the TV shows I have done before, I hope that the experiences I have will help people who follow my progress to change their behaviour too,” he said.
Fans can follow Des’s progress through the blog - which also contain a number of short videos showing how to make electricity savings and reduce his bills. For instance, last week he posted a video of him busily peddling away on an exercise bike to show how much electricity it takes in human terms to watch your favourite TV show.
If it encourages you to reduce the amount of energy you use in your home please come back to Cúl Green and make a carbon saving pledge
